Frequently Asked Questions

Why does BJA’s current policy regarding Harold Rodgers Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) funding restrict data sharing activities to those that support the Prescription Monitoring Information Exchange (PMIX) Hub?

PDMP funding leverages the significant national investment in PDMP interoperability, taking advantage of the consensus-driven process and direction provided by the PMIX working group made up of state PDMP administrators, by supporting data sharing technical solutions that are PMIX-compliant. At this time, the PMIX Hub server is the only existing hub solution that fully meets all of the specifications and guidelines of the PMIX working group. Should an alternative solution to the PMIX Hub server be validated as adequately supporting all PMIX specifications, BJA anticipates that this policy will be reviewed and evolve accordingly, and specifically within the context of creating a national PMIX Architecture.
