The goal of the Justice Reinvestment Initiative for local and tribal communities is similar to that of the state-level initiative, but is different in scale. For local and tribal communities, participating in this initiative means garnering commitment from local leadership and criminal justice authorities, developing or improving information sharing capabilities, collecting and analyzing criminal justice data, developing policy options and strategies based on that data, and enacting evidence-based policies that increase public safety.
