About the Program:

The Post Adjudication Misdemeanor Drug Court (PADC-MM) is an outpatient program focusing on the rehabilitation of substance abuse issues in conjunction with changing criminal behavior patterns. The goal of the program is to teach participants to live a substance free life and reduce recidivism.

Since its establishment in October 2009, the PADC-MM has graduated 89 clients. The outpatient program provides clients with support group sessions, individual counseling, and biweekly court appearances and random drug screenings.

The program receives $17,750 through JAG annually.

Program Successes/Effect on the Community:

During the first quarter of 2016, the PADC-MM Treatment Program was happy to see seven clients successfully complete and graduate treatment.

One of the clients had a history of drug addiction that began early in his life and had grown into a bad heroin addiction. For this program participant, heroin had become a part of everyday life. Through PADC-MM, he was able to acquire the skills needed to demonstrate sobriety and pass random drug screens for over six months, connect to self-help support groups, and begin taking classes at a local bible college.

This client was able to engage in recovery and address the addictions and related addictive thinking and dysfunctional life patterns. He replaced those patterns with positive healthy coping skills and positive relationships within Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) communities. He was able to recognize the effect that heroin was having on his family and hopes to continue inspiring others in his community by serving within the AA and NA community.
