The National Reentry Resource Center, with funding support from BJA, will host Improving Job Readiness and Retention for Higher Risk Populations on August 28, 2019, at 2 p.m. ET. During this webinar, participants will learn about the integration of social learning and/or cognitive behavioral approaches, as well as other-risk reduction strategies, in employment program models. The FY 2019 Second Chance Act Pay for Success Initiative: Outcomes-based Contracting To Lower Recidivism and Homelessness solicitation is now available. The purpose of this program is to assist local, state, and tribal governments in converting reentry and permanent supportive housing service contracts into outcomes-based contracts in order to ensure accountability and improve performance with regard to recidivism reduction and increasing nights housed and emergency service savings. BJA has released the FY 2019 Reducing Injury and Death of Missing Individuals with Dementia and Developmental Disabilities Program funding opportunity. This program supports local jurisdictions' efforts to reduce the number of deaths and injuries of individuals with forms of dementia, such as Alzheimer’s Disease, or developmental disabilities, such as autism, who due to their condition wander from safe environments. The FY 2019 Academic-based Training Initiative to Improve Police Responses for People with Mental Illness and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities opportunity will be used to enhance and increase crisis training and support to states, tribes, and county and local jurisdictions through a pilot program. BJA has released the FY 2019 Gulf States Regional Law Enforcement Technology Assistance Initiative competitive grant solicitation. Through this opportunity, BJA is seeking applications for funding to improve technology and resources to Gulf State law enforcement agencies to increase information sharing on both a local and regional basis. With funding support from BJA, the National Center for Victims of Crime has launched the PSN Training and Technical Assistance Portal to help PSN task forces integrate victim services into their work. The site features victim-centered, trauma-informed materials for service providers and law enforcement officials who work with victims of violent crime.
