Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians—
Renovation of Juvenile Detention Facility

Location: The Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians of Minnesota (RLBC) are a band of Ojibwe or Chippewa Indians that reside on the Red Lake Indian Reservation. The 1,258 square mile reservation, which is located in the northwest corner of Minnesota, approximately 160 miles from the Canadian border, is made up of numerous non-contiguous holdings, the largest of which is the reservation’s population center of Red Lake. The project is located in Red Lake.

Scope: The project involves performing select renovations to the 13,000 square foot Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians Juvenile Detention Center. The renovations include repairing ice damage to the roof and adding insulation, servicing the HVAC system, and partially enclosing the facility’s emergency generator to protect it from the elements.

Status: All project objectives were achieved and the project is complete. This grant is now closed.
