Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis Reservation –
Renovation of Women’s Correctional Facility

Grant Amount: $497,900

Location: The Chehalis people are a native people of western Washington enrolled in the Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis Reservation (CTCR). The 7 square mile Chehalis Indian Reservation is situated approximately 26 miles southwest of Olympia and 6 miles northwest of Centralia in rural western Washington, and occupies lands in southeastern Grays Harbor and southwestern Thurston County. The reservation’s major communities are Chehalis Village and part of the city of Oakville. The project is located in Chehalis Village.

Scope: The project involves expanding and renovating the existing 16-bed correctional unit at the Chehalis Public Safety Facility.  The 1,250 square foot addition will increase the current facility’s total prisoner capacity from 16 to 24 by adding two 4-person cellblocks, a day room, and a shower for female inmates.

The project also includes doubling the facility’s emergency power generating capacity by procuring and installing a 30kw generator.

Status: The project is complete and all objectives were achieved. This grant is now closed.
