Bureau of Justice Assistance Tribal Training & Technical Assistance Provider Directory 2013-2014
With guidance from BJA, the National Criminal Justice Training Center at Fox Valley Technical College developed this directory of technical assistance (TA) providers for tribal justice programs. The guide includes information about TA providers’ areas of expertise, conferences, and publications and other resources.

FY 2011 Coordinated Tribal Assistance Solicitation (CTAS) Community Profiles Report
This report provides a summary of the funding needs reported by a sample of 2011 Coordinated Tribal Assistance Solicitation (CTAS) applicants. The purpose of this report is to identify the needs of CTAS applicants and determine whether meaningful differences exist between applicants who received BJA funding and those who did not.

BJA Strategies to Support Tribal Reentry
BJA, April 2014. BJA offers strategies that can support tribes and states interested in implementing effective post-reentry assessment, supervision, and services for tribal members serving in federal, state and local settings, as well as pre-reentry services in tribal and state prisons and jails.

Preventing and Addressing Sexual Abuse in Tribal Detention Facilities: A Policy Development Guide
BJA and the American Probation and Parole Association, Carrie Abner, October 2011. This document seeks to provide guidance to administrators of tribal detention facilities on the key policy issues for the prevention, reduction, detection, and punishment of sexual abuse perpetrated on those under correctional supervision in Indian Country, including in jails, juvenile detention facilities, and police lock-ups.

Tribal Justice System Capacity Building Training and Technical Assistance Program Funding Available
BJA is seeking applications through the Tribal Justice System Capacity Building Training and Technical Assistance Program. This program assists federally recognized Indian tribes in planning and implementing comprehensive strategies to reduce and control crime associated with alcohol and other drug abuse; and in developing, implementing, and enhancing American Indian and Alaska Native tribal justice systems. Applications are due June 2, 2016.

DOJ Awards $87 Million To Enhance, Support Tribal Justice and Safety
On September 22, DOJ announced the awarding of 169 grants to American Indian tribes, Alaska Native villages, tribal consortia, and tribal designees. The grants will provide more than $87 million to enhance law enforcement practices and sustain crime prevention and intervention efforts in nine purpose areas including public safety and community policing; justice systems planning; alcohol and substance abuse; corrections and correctional alternatives; violence against women; juvenile justice; and tribal youth programs.
